Sport Selection Scheme

Following public consultation, entry under the Sports Selection Scheme in September 2026 is available for students who do not meet criteria 1, 2 or 3 in our Admissions Policy.

Procedure for entry to Great Baddow High School through the Sport Selection Scheme.

If your child does not have a sibling already at Great Baddow High School, you can apply for admission through the Sports Selection Scheme. 

Up to 10% of Year 7 students will be selected for places at Great Baddow High School on the basis of aptitude for sport. The selection process will take place following the practical activities day at Great Baddow High School.  Students will be assessed on their athletics ability in running, jumping, and throwing and ability at one chosen sport from a pre-determined list.

In order to register your child for the sports selection assessment day, a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) must be completed and submitted to Great Baddow High School, following which, your child will be invited to take part in the sports selection day.

Admissions September 2026

The Supplementary Information Form (SIF) for admission into Year 7 2026 will be available on the website in the 2025 Summer Term.

The Supplementary Information Form for admission into Year 7 in September 2026 through the Sports Selection Scheme must be completed and submitted to Great Baddow High School by NO LATER THAN midday on Friday 26th September 2025.

Following submission of the form, further details regarding arrangements for the day will be emailed to parents by Wednesday 1st October 2025.

The selection day will take place on Saturday 4th October 2025. The day will be split into two sessions and your child will be invited to attend one session. Your child must be available for the duration of the day as they could be allocated to either session.

Attendance is compulsory for your child to be assessed accurately and fairly. There are no alternative assessment dates.
